Friends,
Design has always been my way of speaking. Through volume and void. Through light, texture, and the quiet tension between contrast and calm.
But behind every space I create, there’s a less visible process—quiet, instinctive, and deeply personal. It rarely starts with a floor plan. It starts with a feeling. A passing detail. A palette I saw on vacation, a photograph from the ’70s, a sentence in a book, or a message from a friend. Inspiration is rarely linear—but it always leaves a mark.
Le Corbusier once said, “I prefer drawing to talking. Drawing is faster, and leaves less room for lies.” I feel the same way about inspiration—it’s honest. It doesn’t explain itself. It just is. And when I follow it—even in its softest or strangest forms—it always leads somewhere true.
I truly believe we’re happier when we’re inspired. Not just as designers, but as people. When we notice more, feel more, question more.
I’m always chasing that awareness. And maybe, by sharing it, we all start seeing a little more.
So welcome to Maru News—a new monthly journal of thoughts, textures, and things that spark curiosity. The pieces that don’t always make it into the final brief, but shape everything behind the scenes.
Architecture. Objects. Art. Music. Structure. Spontaneity.
This is where I connect the dots between what moves me and how it filters into the spaces I create.
If you’re curious about what’s behind the curtain—what makes me pause, shift direction, or dive deeper—this is for you. Each month, I’ll share a curated mix of thoughts and things that feel connected. Maybe you’ll find something that lights you up too.
Here’s to inspiration that comes from everywhere. And to finding beauty in the unexpected.
See you every month,
Maru
